The Danakil Depression is an extreme and otherworldly landscape in northeastern Ethiopia. It's one of the hottest, lowest, and most geologically active places on Earth. The region is a surreal mix of bubbling volcanoes, neon-colored sulfur springs, and vast, shimmering salt flats.
